Main objective of the course

The main objective in Engineering 102 is to build drones and tents to fly them in. We will construct test tent enclosures and then buy tents to fly the drones in. We will then add sensors to the tents. We will then 3D print drones and add electronics to the drone. In this course there is as large fundraising component where we will work with Notre Dame High school's STEM program and have a drone competition using our drones and tents. Our aim is to raise money for the program and give back to the local community. I hope to encourage others to immerse themselves in STEM fields of study and discover the many job opportunities that such fields can offer.



Isabella Tolomeo 

The main objective of this course in my opinion is to make some sort of difference in the STEM programs all over. Working to raise money for Notre Dame high school’s STEM project and working with them will give us a chance to get a feel of what our futures may be like and give us great things to add to our resumes. Mainly this course will be working with drones and building parts/tents for drones. We will have drone competitions which will end up being huge fundraiser for the $5,000 we are raising for Notre Dame.



Tents to buy

Our first idea was to build a frame that was 2x3x6 feet and then cover it in a plastic wrap. This way we would be able to see in to the tent and easily get the drone in and out.

This type of tent would be ideal however we were unable to find one like this that was the correct dimensions. It however is very easy to transport as it can be assembled and disassembled very easily.

This type of tent would be very good as it can be assembled easily and transported easily. You will be able to see inside as well. The only problem is that small drones may be able to fly out the holes.

A box like this would also be very good to fly a drone in as it is very sturdy. It however would not be easy to transport and is very hard to find one in the correct dimensions.

Our 'tent' will be made from PVC pipes that can easy be attached and unattached for quick assembly. A screen will be placed over the pipes. Our obstacles will be attached to the PVC pipes and will remain on the pipes when the structure is unassembled.

Fundraising Planning 
$5 per play
Individual pays to play. The objective is to get through as many tents and their obstacle course as possible. 
Passing each tent = 1 raffle ticket.
- Easiest 'tent' will be first and the course will end with the hardest tent. Tents will be lined up in this order.
- You will receive your tickets as you clear each tent
- Raffle is drawn at conclusion.
